Dr Deniz Karaca has a PhD in Marine Biogeochemistry and focused her career on applying an interdisciplinary perspective to Earth Sciences. Her research in the areas of coastal engineering and marine biogeochemistry provided her with a good understanding of various aspects of the Earth system and environmental dynamics, as well numerical modelling and simulations expertise. She has since expanded her knowledge to administration and science policy. Karaca gained extensive experience in the coordination and implementation of European and international science and technology development programmes through her previous role as a Science Project Coordinator. She utilises both her academic and policy experience today as Science Officer for Earth System Science and Environmental Management at the European Cooperation in Science and Technology (COST).
